Siam Food Gallery
If you're wandering around Esher and craving vibrant Thai flavours, Siam Food Gallery at 95-97 High Street is where the magic happens. It’s one of those spots where the moment you walk in, you get a sense that you’ve discovered something a little special. The warm lighting, stylish interior, and the aroma of lemongrass and spices instantly set the tone. This is not your average Thai takeaway - it's a place that’s equally inviting for a quick solo lunch or an intimate dinner.
What sets Siam Food Gallery apart from the pack is how effortlessly it balances modern presentation with authentic Thai flavour. And let’s talk about the menu, because it’s packed with crowd-pleasers and a few unexpected gems. One dish that gets people talking is the Tom Kha Soup - a creamy coconut broth with a zing of galangal and lime, perfect for warming the soul on a chilly day. Pair it with Coconut Rice and you’ve already got yourself a meal to remember.
For those looking to start light, the Papaya Salad and Vegetable Spring Rolls are fresh, zesty and beautifully plated. The Chicken Satay, with its thick, peanuty dip, is grilled just right. If you're into seafood, the Steamed Sea Bass is a must-try - it comes delicately seasoned, flaky and tender. There’s also the Prawn Tempura, light and crisp without the grease, served with a tangy dipping sauce that ties it all together.
Now, if you’re in the mood for sharing or mixing it up, go for the Dim Sum and Thai Fish Cakes - both small enough to nibble on but big on flavour. And don't sleep on the Fried Calamari either - it’s got that perfect golden crunch that doesn’t overpower the squid itself.
The Tofu Curry is another highlight - creamy and aromatic, it's a hit with vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Spice lovers will enjoy the Green Curry with Rice, which walks the fine line between fiery and flavourful without being overwhelming. And for those looking to stay on the lighter side, dishes like Broccoli and Beans or the Beef Salad offer a healthy yet delicious alternative.
Drinks-wise, Siam Food Gallery doesn’t shy away from offering variety. The Thai Tea is a customer favourite - rich, subtly spiced and refreshing. If you're leaning into the fun side of things, the Sex on the Beach cocktail has its fair share of fans, while a glass of wine or cold beer pairs effortlessly with spicy mains. They also offer fresh juices, spirits, and coffee, so you're covered no matter your mood.
A nice surprise is the dessert menu. Yes, they serve Thai food, but don’t skip their Panna Cotta - it’s light, silky, and a sweet end to a punchy meal. This attention to detail in every course is a recurring theme here.
Another thing worth noting is how accessible and convenient the place is. There’s wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating, which makes it easy for everyone to enjoy the experience. Whether you're planning to dine in, grab a takeaway, or have it delivered to your door, the service is consistently smooth and friendly. The staff is attentive without hovering, and you can tell they know the menu inside and out.
The restaurant is especially popular during lunch and dinner hours, and it's a smart choice for solo diners thanks to its warm vibe and efficient service. They’ve nailed the balance between being fast enough for a quick bite and relaxed enough for those long, slow meals. Plus, with vegan, vegetarian, and healthy options available, the menu feels inclusive and thoughtful.
What really makes Siam Food Gallery stand out is how it nails all the small things - from the crispy prawn crackers served fresh to the flank steak cooked to perfection. It’s these little touches, combined with bold flavours and great service, that make you want to come back - whether it’s your first visit or your fifteenth.
Reviews
It was ok, my wife enjoyed her food , me less so - found it bland. Waitress was sullen and unfriendly. Had better experience at a Thai restaurant nearby. Won’t be going back.
Out family of 8 members went this evening to celebrate my 81st birthday. We had a very bad experience tonight as I am a pescatarian and only eat fish seafood and vegetables. The food for the other members was reasonable but for me items from the menu were not available. Several items of seabass stated in the menu were not available. So I ordered Jumbo prawns curry. When the dish came it had tiny prawns, i had to cancel the dish and order the fish cakes for my main course. No wonder the restaurant was empty for Saturday evening. We were bery disappointed and will never visit this restaurant again.
We had never been before, after having lived in Esher for many years. We were pleasantly surprised. We didn’t over order and it was a good thing too as the portions were generous. The service was good, no loud music, no fuss. It is now on our ‘go to’ list.
Amazing quality and quantity. Very helpful staff. Gratefully enjoyed lunch here. Strongly recommend. Will come back soon. Thanks.
Hadn’t booked but they were able to easily accommodate. I at first thought they were closed but was just the first customer of the evening! (It was a Monday night). It could maybe have done with some music in the background. But the decor was wonderful & service good. The food came out super speedy. I had coconut rice & vegetarian Thai green curry w/ tofu. It was some of the best Thai food I have eaten - and that includes in Thailand. Very reasonably priced. Will most definitely be going back.
